Photo Upload Tool

Before there were Flikr and iPhoto, Facebook and all the rest, I designed this application for uploading photos to a community-based website.

Forge Media had created a downloadable tool to upload photos to a website. MyFamily.com purchased the technology and I developed a front-end design for the tool to be more user-friendly and to fit into the visual design of MyFamily.com. As the design took form, it was apparent that the user would have to make a series of crucial decisions. The solution is a 4-step upload process where the user chooses which photos to send where.

The success of this project was important because MyFamily.com's revenue model relied on a digital reprint service and several customizable photo products, all of which were dependant on users uploading photos to the site. The project was a huge success. After just the first month, over 25,000 users had downloaded the tool and it accounted for 1/3 of all photos uploaded to MyFamily.com.
